Having ‘freebies’ or ‘giveaways’ is a popular method to attract “customers” without them having to pay.

Good or Bad

There are advantages and good uses for freebies and giveaways.

  • Lead Generation, market research: sellers gather information from potential leads, and hope to turn them into real customers.
  • They can boost social media reach and/or increase website traffic. Seller offers these in exchange for sharing of their content, commenting on their content to increase their online presence and brand awareness.
  • Product or service promotion: seller gives away a free item that is related to what they are offering.

Sounds great what could possibly be bad about giving things away for free or greatly discounted???

Watch this video for more:

Let’s take a closer look at giving away a product or service in hopes of selling a higher priced service or coaching service…

Seller has a video course that normally sells for $49.99. She decides to give this course away for FREE believing she can turn these Freebie seekers into buyers. The conversion of a Free consumer to a buying consumer can be difficult.

“The perceived Value of a Free offer is Zero”

Unfortunately many of those ‘customers’ will never even use the Free course…..

How do I know this?? Because I have done the same and I’m sure you have too. I may get intrigued by something, give them my email, see the email to access the course, tell myself I’ll do it later….and later never comes..

Here’s where we need to be careful the perception of the Free offer can and will affect your other offers.

You have to give real value in any and all Free offers to show the value of your other offers.

It’s ok to have free offers and giveaways but, be realistic about the outcomes.

What Could Go Wrong With Freebies?

In Truth Bomb Academy we talk about energies quite often. Feminine Energy, Masculine Energy are hot topics of conversation. Money has energy too. The exchange of money has energy between the people. The missing with Free offers is the lack of that positive energy exchange.

I even dare to say in barter arrangements where you are exchanging services or products with equal dollar value. Exchange the money back and forth and notice the difference in the energy around the transaction.

If you are considering offering a service or product for free in hopes of making a future sale consider the energy behind that, the reason you are doing it and how it looks to your future customers.

*If you are willing to work for FREE, do you really hold yourself, your value in the highest regard??*

Perceived value of free is zero is so true

It really is! Thank you for stopping by and commenting. Do you use any freebies in your business?

    • I have always been on the fence about freebies. It’s been said they grow your audience, but many subscribe or view just until the winner is announced. Many will bounce back and do it over and over. That being said, I’m not 100% opposed t free stuff and do it from time to time.

I think it is a balance of both. So much content from our blog, videos, and even social posts are basically our free content. So the question is are you building a list of freebie seekers or buyers? Which is better for your business? Thank you for your comment and like you, I do freebies from time to time also.
